Job Description
The financial consultant position provides technical support to the client teams by monitoring the cost and performance of the client’s benefits plans. The position owns the responsibility of monitoring and communicating the financial performance of the employee benefits plans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but are not limited to):
- Provide financial performance reports, analysis and recommendations to clients (for monthly/quarterly reporting for Fully-Insured/Level Funded/Self-Funded plans).
- Assist in the evaluation of the results of Requests for Proposals for consultants (Medical/Dental/Vision for Fully-Insured/Level Funded/Self-Funded plans).
- Assist in client presentations regarding the cost effectiveness of benefit strategies.
- Interfaces directly with clients to provide underwriting review in on-site and remote capacity, explaining financial analysis and recommendations (for monthly/quarterly reporting for Fully-Insured/Level Funded/Self-Funded plans).
- Responsible for understanding market trends that are driving client benefit costs, and explaining those to clients directly, along with training and explanation of trends to internal account team members. (Medical/Rx/Leverage Trend – Stop Loss).
- Work with National Analytics group on IBNR requests.
- Works closely with client executives, account management and/or client service teams on pre-renewal strategy, claims projections, and post renewal analysis.
- Maintains a full understanding of the insurance markets, funding alternatives, networks and benefit plan options.
- Attends carrier events to remain up to date and knowledgeable of carrier plans and changes, as well as maintain strong relationships.

Education, Training and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s Degree with strong mathematics background such as Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance, required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, required.
- Experience in the insurance industry, preferred.
- Life & Health License, required.
