POSITION OVERVIEW
This position will report to the VP of Fabrication and is a key member of the management team in a diversified fast paced environment. The Plant Manager directs the operations and processes for the fabrication plant to maintain production schedules, ensure that all areas are operating efficiently, safely and to full capacity through organization, planning, proper repairs and maintenance, frequent observation, evaluation and training, proactive correction and the delegation of duties while holding employees accountable and measuring performance. This position is also responsible for costs associated with production of products for sale, and for the maintenance and management of personnel, machines and the facility. The manager is accountable for the achievement of plant performance objectives, profitability, on-time shipping, safety of all team workers and product quality.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead direct reports in, manufacturing, Quality, EHS, maintenance, logistics, and coatings departments.
- In the Office Lead direct reports in AP/AR , purchasing , HR and shop issuing.
- Responsible for overall safety, quality and performance and customer experience.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.
- Accountability for meeting and exceeding operational goals.
- Strategic planning and forecasting; appraising performance; reward and discipline employees; resolve problems; and address staffing needs.
- Mentor, train and develop teammates for career progression and learning.
- Ability to develop and share best practices across the organization. Implement continuous improvement opportunities.
- This position requires a candidate with the proven ability to drive process improvements and the ability to keep pace with our growth while motivating others to meet the challenges of an extremely deadline-driven environment.
- Establish and implement manufacturing plans while closely monitoring job progress.
- Maintain production schedule to ensure proper workload.
- Coordinate and supervise the activity for your direct reports.
- Administer consistent and equitable application of company policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years management experience in a manufacturing, production, or distribution environment
- Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations.
- Direct management experience for a salaried and hourly employee population and its performance
- Experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and LEAN techniques (how, when, who).
- Candidates must be flexible to work weekends as needed to ensure deadlines are met.
- Degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field (PREFERRED).
- Interest in long-term career development (PREFERRED).
