What You’ll Do

As Controller, you’ll oversee the day-to-day accounting function while serving as a trusted business partner to leadership. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and mentor the local accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial planning activities.
  • Analyze financial performance and provide meaningful reporting and recommendations to leadership.
  • Oversee commission accounting, bonus accruals, client billing, and accounts payable processes.
  • Ensure accurate financial records, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Partner with corporate finance and accounting teams to maintain compliance and reporting standards.
  • Improve accounting workflows, internal controls, and month-end processes to increase efficiency.
  • Support payroll coordination, employee compensation reporting, and expense management.
  • Provide financial analysis related to client profitability, producer compensation, carrier incentives, and operational performance.
  • Serve as a key financial resource for leadership on strategic initiatives and business planning.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of accounting and finance leadership experience managing accounting teams.
  • 3+ years in a Controller or equivalent senior accounting role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and month-end close.
  • Experience improving accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Experience within the insurance or employee benefits industry is a plus but not required.
