What You’ll Do
As Controller, you’ll oversee the day-to-day accounting function while serving as a trusted business partner to leadership. Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and mentor the local accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial planning activities.
- Analyze financial performance and provide meaningful reporting and recommendations to leadership.
- Oversee commission accounting, bonus accruals, client billing, and accounts payable processes.
- Ensure accurate financial records, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Partner with corporate finance and accounting teams to maintain compliance and reporting standards.
- Improve accounting workflows, internal controls, and month-end processes to increase efficiency.
- Support payroll coordination, employee compensation reporting, and expense management.
- Provide financial analysis related to client profitability, producer compensation, carrier incentives, and operational performance.
- Serve as a key financial resource for leadership on strategic initiatives and business planning.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of accounting and finance leadership experience managing accounting teams.
- 3+ years in a Controller or equivalent senior accounting role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
- CPA preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and month-end close.
- Experience improving accounting processes and internal controls.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership abilities with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Experience within the insurance or employee benefits industry is a plus but not required.
