Vice President of Human Resources (Retail)

Salary Range: $175K to $225K plus bonus
Benefits: Excellent
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

A growing, multi-state, geographically dispersed retail organization is conducting a confidential search for a Vice President of Human Resources to lead its people strategy and support the next stage of organizational growth.

This is a highly visible executive leadership opportunity reporting directly to the CEO and partnering closely with the senior leadership team. The organization has approximately 3000+ employees across 40 locations in 10+ states, with continued expansion planned.

The Opportunity
The VP of Human Resources will lead an established HR function while evaluating and evolving the organization’s people strategy, operating model, team structure, systems, and capabilities.
Key priorities include:
1. Develop and execute a multi-year people strategy aligned with business growth and operating objectives.
2. Assess and strengthen the existing HR organization, processes, technology, and service delivery model.
3. Build a scalable HR operating model capable of supporting continued geographic and workforce growth.
4. Strengthen leadership development, succession planning, talent reviews, and internal career development.
5. Create a more predictable talent acquisition and workforce planning engine.
6. Improve frontline employee retention, onboarding, engagement, and overall employee experience.
7. Provide strategic oversight of compensation, benefits, performance management, and employee relations.
8. Strengthen HR business partnership and field support across a multi-state operation.
9. Ensure effective HR infrastructure, workforce analytics, payroll, HRIS, policies, and compliance.
10. Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and senior operating leaders on organizational and people decisions.

Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be an experienced HR executive who combines deep functional expertise with strong business and operational acumen.
The ideal leader will have:
1. 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience.
2. Significant experience supporting a large, geographically dispersed, multi-state workforce.
3. Experience with substantial hourly/frontline populations; retail, hospitality, distribution, service, manufacturing, or similar environments preferred.
4. A track record of scaling HR capabilities alongside business growth.
5. Strong experience in leadership development, succession, talent acquisition, retention, compensation, benefits, performance management, employee relations, and compliance.
6. Experience leading and developing multidisciplinary HR teams.
7. Strong analytical and financial capabilities.
8. The credibility to advise and challenge CEOs, senior executives, and operational leaders.
9. A practical, data-driven leadership style with the ability to simplify complexity and execute through others.
10. A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree or relevant professional certification is preferred.

Why This Role
This is an opportunity to shape the people strategy and HR infrastructure of a growing enterprise, rather than simply manage an existing HR function. The successful executive will have significant influence over organizational design, leadership capability, talent strategy, culture, and the systems required to support continued expansion.
