Job Overview
Responsible for various financial functions, including month-end close tasks, assistance with budgets and forecasts, support of local management teams with analysis and interpretation of financial results, and collaboration with other finance stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely reporting and adherence to internal controls and compliance requirements. Drive continuous improvements to the month-end close process, balance sheet and key expense account reconciliation processes and reporting, and systems utilization to effectively operate in this capacity and allow our accounting function to continually improve and become more efficient. Serve as the key Business Partner to General Managers and Accounting Team to provide insight and recommendations to help drive the strategy, goals, and objectives of the company.
Scope
The company generates annual revenue of $350M from the sale, rental and support of new and used construction, mining, and utility equipment across six states from Maryland to Connecticut. Total assets are $270M, including approx. $185M in equipment inventory and rental fleet, and PPE balance of $55M. This business includes the management of Construction, Mining, and Utility customers which differ in product lines, contract terms, and volume utilizing ERP system called CDK. This position will work out of the Hatfield, PA office four days of the week, and one day remote.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Month End Close: Lead and drive month end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and key judgements and estimates. Ensure complex accounting transactions are processed according to US GAAP and company policies and proactively search for resolutions to issues. Analyze and drive the review of month end results against budget, forecast and prior year; anticipating questions and providing actionable commentary on what is driving the numbers.
- Variance Analysis: Responsible for reviewing analysis of company financial results including monthly report vs. benchmarks (e.g., plan, forecast, etc.)
- Collaborate with Accounting Managers to provide best practices and continual improvement opportunities in support of Regional operations teams.
- Anticipate, analyze issues and approach within assignments and tasks. Recommend, summarize, and present proposed corrective actions or process enhancements. Drive the implementation of the results with accounting department and regional business leaders.
- Compliance & JSOX: Responsible for Balance Sheet and Key Income Statement account analysis, reconciliation.
- Assistance with oversight and management of compliance with federal, state, and local government statutes and regulations and related internal (JSOX) and external audits and documentation.
- Regional Operations Support: Create comprehensive reports and insightful analyses (anticipating issues and questions) using high level skills in Excel, charting, graphing, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, Crystal reports, and demonstrate knowledge of ERP systems.
- Initiative / Project Work: Performs ad hoc requests and analysis along with leading special projects required to achieve company goals and increase overall company profitability. Must be able to apply the seven principles of the company’s way to their everyday work activities where applicable.
- Develop, take ownership of, lead, and complete special projects with minimal supervision. Coordinate with operational staff and accounting staff to accomplish goals.
- Strategic Business Plans: Will assist Company Owned DB management in development and analysis of strategic business plans.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Heavy Equipment, Manufacturing, Distribution experience preferred.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving, technical, organizational, verbal, and written communications, leadership, and management skills.
- Ability to work with customers, motivate employees and work with internal departments to achieve desired results.
- Excellent PC Skills w/ Word, Excel, PP, Data Analysis (Access, Sequel, Power BI). SAP, BPC, and CDK ERP Experience desired but not required.
- Knowledge of information systems deployment, utilization, and capabilities for-and-of enterprise systems management. Ability to use Microsoft Office software products.
- Must possess a high level of organization and planning skills to achieve success in handling many priorities across several groups.
- Flexibility to work various schedules including willingness to travel to branch locations.
