Comp: Base $125K-$135K + bonus and full benefits
Primary Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for managing and reviewing tax engagements for a diverse client base consisting of closely held businesses, high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and estates. The Tax Manager will serve as a trusted advisor to clients while overseeing tax compliance, planning initiatives, and staff development.
- Manage and review a variety of tax returns including Individual (1040), Partnership (1065), S-Corporation (1120S), C-Corporation (1120), Trust, and Estate returns.
- Provide proactive tax planning and consulting services to business and individual clients, identifying opportunities to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax-saving strategies.
- Research federal, state, and local tax regulations and communicate findings and recommendations to clients and firm leadership.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong long-term relationships through exceptional service and responsiveness.
- Review work prepared by Tax Seniors and Staff Accountants, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback.
- Assist clients with tax projections, estimated tax payments, year-end planning strategies, and other advisory services.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and evaluate the impact on clients, developing strategies to address evolving tax requirements.
- Collaborate with firm leadership on complex tax matters, special projects, and opportunities to expand service offerings.
- Ensure compliance with firm standards, tax regulations, and filing deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Participate in business development efforts by identifying opportunities within existing client relationships and supporting new client acquisition initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA License Required
- 5+ years of public accounting tax experience
- Experience preparing and reviewing individual, partnership, corporate, trust, and estate tax returns
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations
- Experience managing multiple client engagements and deadlines simultaneously
- Strong technical tax research and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and client relationship management skills
- Leadership experience supervising, mentoring, and developing junior staff
- Proficiency with tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Taxation
- Experience working with closely held businesses and high-net-worth individuals
- Prior experience in a Tax Manager or Senior Tax Associate role within a public accounting environment
- Business development and client advisory experience preferred
- Desire for long-term career growth and advancement within a growing public accounting firm
